As I’ve written in other blog posts, the single best thing to come out of the 2020 wedding season was the rise of micro-weddings. While the reasons for downsizing throughout the past year have been unfortunate, the trade off has been small intimate weddings, with just couples’ closest loved ones. While it’s quite different from the big party atmosphere of larger weddings, it’s a totally different type of amazing to get to capture the quieter, more tender moments that simply fall by the wayside at larger weddings. Hayley and Keith’s wedding day was packed with wonderful little moments between the couple and their family, and I just love the tone it gave they helped give this video.
For a wedding filmmaker, the other awesome side effect of small weddings is a lot of schedule flexibility, which in turn usually means tons of time for AWESOME couples footage! Garden of the Gods is one of the most iconic Colorado landmarks, but getting to a lot of the most amazing spots takes time to hike or patience to wait for parking to open up. I am so grateful that Hayley and Keith were willing to take on both of these hurdles, because this wedding some of my favorite portrait moments we’ve ever captured for a wedding video. The footage really embodies everything that makes Garden of the Gods so amazing: sweeping vistas in the shadow of Pike’s Peak, and dramatic sandstone pillars, all with such an amazing, fun, joyful couple at the heart of it.
The final element that made this day special was that we got to stream the couples’ wedding ceremony for them, ensuring that although only a handful of people were able to attend in person, loved ones around the country were able to join in and watch live. Wedding live streaming has really come into its own in the past year, and it provides such an amazing added sense of community, especially to smaller weddings like this one.
Hayley and Keith, thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your wedding day. We’re so blessed to be able to get to capture so much joy and emotion!
Also, huge thanks to Arianne at Ama Photography for her help and patience as our photo counterpart for the day, and to all the amazing folks at Garden of the Gods Club!
